2017 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD LT Brings Back the Golden Age of SUVs

In the era of the crossover vehicle, it can be hard out there for an SUV. While many drivers still love the space and power a sports utility vehicle offers, it’s hard to argue with anyone who decides to pass on buying one when there are vehicles with nearly the same power and space profile with better gas mileage, more modern features, and better safety ratings.

If you often find yourself nostalgic for the days when SUVs were new and the hottest thing on the road, Chevrolet has a gift for you: the 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD LT, a full-on SUV that keeps everything people love about the sports utility vehicle while also improving the things about them that caused their reputation to fade.

Here’s our Spencer Chevrolet dealership’s take on why the 2017 Chevy Tahoe 4WD LT could signal a big time return for the SUV.

What Makes the 2017 Tahoe 4WD LT Special?

Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD LT

The biggest advantage of the SUV is its size, and the 2017 Tahoe 4WD LT definitely meets that qualification. Inside and out, the Tahoe 4WD LT is designed to be a big vehicle, giving it lots of space for passengers and storage and an impressive profile that dominates the road and is capable of towing up to 8500 pounds. If you like driving a vehicle that gives you all the power and size one could ask for in a consumer-grade vehicle, this is the one for you.

Under the hood, there’s a 6-speed automatic transmission and an improved engine setup, making this version of the Tahoe capable of 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. While that hardly makes the Tahoe 4WD LT the most fuel-efficient vehicle on the road, it is an improvement over many other vehicles its size.

Additionally, the vehicle comes with a feature called Active Fuel Management, which will automatically shut down half the vehicle’s cylinders during steady-speed cruising, upping its fuel efficiency.

The engine also features variable valve timing and direct fuel injection, giving the vehicle a nice boost to power, and is capable of running on flex-fuel mixes up to a rating of E85, or 85% ethanol.

2017 Chevrolet Tahoe review

Previous versions of the Tahoe were well regarded for their well-designed and comfortable interiors, but the 2017 Tahoe 4WD LT takes it to the next level. The interior has been revamped to give it a sleeker, more modern look and to incorporate a whole slew of impressive new technology.

This includes an 8-inch touchscreen for navigation and audio system control, rear seat entertainment centers, a large center storage panel big enough to store a laptop or tablet, MyLink Audio System and Shopping Apps, power sunroof, aero shutters, and Teen Driver spyware to let parents keep track of their kids whenever they take the car out for a drive.
